- Today's second candle lighting in the Olszewski's home is called "light". The star in the East guided the wise men to Jesus to bring Him gifts. The light of God influenced these wise men (we don't know how many despite the inaccurate portrayal of "We Three Kings") to follow God. The star led them to the Light of the world - Jesus Christ.
- What are some things in your life that are keeping you from following the Light (Jesus Christ)? I have found that what Pastor Matt said on Sunday morning, "media creep" to Light blinding. So this week I am going to focus less on the news and more on the Good News found in Jesus Christ.

Rob, this is my first time on a blog....and I'm having a good time. I like your blog...books I'm reading etc.
I always wondered about the wise men; well, really, I wondered about the Chosen People and why THEY weren't looking and searching for the messiah. Perhaps the star was the light that opened their hearts and minds to Christ? I guess we can only come to Christ this way-by being chosen and enabled.

It is an interesting thought because it really does point to a sovereign God using the wise men who were not a part of the Jewish people. Maybe this was a foreshadowing of God expanding His kingdom to include gentiles and all nations as promised in Gen. 12 with Abraham. His mercies are new every morning!
